💳 How Payments & Refunds Work on 3 Hats

We want buying and selling art to feel simple, safe, and transparent.
Here’s a quick guide to how payments, payouts, and refunds work on our platform.

🎨 For Buyers

🛒 1. Paying for Artwork

All payments are processed securely through Stripe.
You’ll receive a confirmation email as soon as your order is placed.

🔄 2. When Refunds Are Available

Refunds are available only when:

  • 🖼️ The artwork arrives damaged

  • 📦 The wrong item arrives

  • 🎭 The artwork is not as described

  • ⚠️ There is clear evidence of misrepresentation or seller error

🚫 Refunds are not offered for change of mind.

📬 3. Returns (If required)

If a return is approved:

  • 🚚 The artist pays for return shipping

  • 📦 Artwork must be returned in its original condition

  • 🔁 A valid tracking number is required

  • 💰 Refunds are processed once tracking confirms delivery back to the artist

👌 4. No-Return Refunds

Sometimes you don’t need to return the item.

This applies when:

  • 🪙 The artwork is low value

  • 🖊️ Damage is clearly shown

  • 🤝 The artist agrees

  • 🛠️ 3 Hats determines a return isn’t necessary

You may keep, donate, or discard the item in these cases.

⏱️ 5. Refund Timeframes

Once approved, refunds are issued back to your original payment method.
Processing times depend on your bank or payment provider.

🧑‍🎨 For Artists

💰 1. How Payouts Work

Artist payouts are held for 7 days after a purchase to ensure everything is okay on the buyer’s end.

If a dispute is raised during this time, payouts are temporarily frozen until resolved.

⚖️ 2. Disputes

If a buyer reports an issue, 3 Hats reviews the case fairly.
We may ask for:

  • 🖼️ Photos

  • 📝 Descriptions

  • 📦 Packaging info

  • 🔍 Tracking details

You’ll always be included in the review process.

🔻 3. Refunds After Payout

If a refund happens after a completed payout:

  • Stripe may apply a temporary negative balance

  • Future sales or payouts automatically offset it

  • No action needed on your end

This system protects both artists and buyers.
